Climate Norfolk, formerly named CHAIN (Climate Hope Action In Norfolk), was formed in 2015 by Dr Hayley Pinto and Dr Joanne Veltman, two practitioners who had become deeply concerned at the urgency of the climate crisis and the serious implications for public health. The initial focus was on public education, which included working in schools, showing films and hosting street events. A list of previous events and activities can be found here.
In 2019, however, the focus of the group changed to more direct political engagement. This has included hosting public meetings/presentations with MPs and cross-party panels, while also encouraging residents to write to their MP. This sits alongside the long-standing aim of the group to communicate with members of the public who wouldn’t otherwise be engaged with the issue of climate change.
We have 300 email subscribers from across Norfolk which we have gained from attending public events.
